The Blasturm

The Blasturm of Öhringen

The front tower of the collegiate church, the so-called “Blasturm”, was used as the archive tower of Hohenlohe and as urban watchtower while serving as a church tower with clockwork and bells.

The regional society of Öhringen with support of the owners of the state of Baden-Württemberg and the town of Öhringen has been running the tower museum since 1991.

Among other things, the museum exhibits the well-preserved dwelling of the watchman as well as numerous exhibits connected with the tower’s function as a watchtower.

The outer tower gallery offers guests and visitors an impressive view of the city.

The entrance to both tower and tower museum is at the foot of the tower right beside the main portal of the Stiftskirche (collegiate church).

Guided tower tours are available on request (subject to charge)
